Speed Limit

Please remember that the speed limit on campus is 5 MPH! Please observe the speed limit for the safety of everyone on our campus.

Students will travel this year to TWO different international locations! The first will be to Germany during Spring Break '08, and the second is to Greece in summer '08. Our global economy is becoming increasingly competitive, and students with international experience are a plus! If you would like to learn about these opportunities, contact Ginger Kirchmyer at kirchmyg@osceola.k12.fl.us for more information on how you can register. Deposit deadline is approaching quickly, so act now!

Can't go but want to help?
If you know of any business who might like to make a donation to support our organization, please have them call Ginger at 407-891-3100, x08649. You can also help by sending your Village Inn receipts to Ginger Kirchmyer at SCHS, as they donate 10% of the price of the meal to our group. This is an ongoing fundraiser, so send them in everytime you go!

Senior Class News

There are some important dates coming for the Class of 2008. Please mark your calendars and check the SCHS website for updates.
If you missed the November 8 and 9 order dates for graduation announcements, you can order with Josten’s online at jostens.com or mail in the order no later than November 30. A $75.00 deposit is required.
Students who were absent for the cap and gown orders need to pick up an order packet from Mrs. Peck in 4001 or in the front office. The graduation fee is $55.00. No payment is required at this time.
Graduation is set for 8:00 p.m. Thursday, May 29, at Osceola Heritage Park. Seniors must be at OHP no later than 6:15 pm. All seniors are required to attend the rehearsal on May 29 from 11:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m at OHP.
Any senior who has not completed a graduation form needs to get one from Mrs. Woodruff in guidance and complete it ASAP.

Best Buddies

Best Buddies is off to a great start this year. Our President Brittney Creech picked up our Outstanding chapter award at the National Leadership Conference from Anthony Kennedy Shriver, the founder. We were one of 22 chapters in the nation to be selected. Our newly elected officers are: Michelle Gelfert, Kelsey Kaminski, Lauren Goldinger, Amanda Eichenauer, and Melissa Bender. We have over 100 members through the Early Childhood Education program and National Honor Society along with the buddies. We had a very successful fundraiser – a car wash at Walmart making almost $1000. The peer buddies and their buddies washed lots of cars and had a great time. The mission of our chapter is to provide friendship and socialization for students with intellectual disabilities and we truly enjoy their friendship.

FCCLA Take Care Totes

Family Career and Community Leaders of America is participating in a state FCCLA project called Take Care Totes. Members are donating items to make care packages for children placed in emergency care at a local domestic violence shelter. Donations are being accepted such as: toothbrush, toothpaste, pajamas, underwear, socks, brush, and small stuffed animals for boys and girls ages 2-6. Any SCHS student is welcome to donate in room 25-110. The club will be meeting with Harmony High FCCLA to sew the tote bags in their Fashion Production lab and then they will be delivered in October.
